Democratic Campaign Badge from the 1900 Presidential Election
The 1900 Democratic National Convention took place in Kansas City, Missouri at the Convention Hall. This badge for William Jennings Bryan is from a Democratic Club in his home state of Nebraska. Future POTUS Harry S. Truman served as a page at the Convention, and found it to be an exciting experience. Harry admired Bryan as a voice for the common man throughout his life.
This badge is one of many items on display now at the Truman Library’s temporary exhibit, “Tracing the Trumans: An American Story.”
